The ICT Mark is a new quality mark, awarded by Becta and developed in partnership with Naace. It is an optional accreditation for schools who can demonstrate high achievement in their use of ICT across the whole school. Schools who have previously considered going for the ICT Naacemark will now be directed towards this new award.
The award is based on the Self Review Framework an online tool which was developed collaboratively by the key agencies: Becta, Ofsted, QCA, TDA (NCSL, the National Strategies, the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) and Naace.
The SRF is based on the eight elements below; the impact on pupil outcomes being one of the new and most significant elements compared with the previous scheme.
Schools are encouraged to use the SRF as a useful way of benchmarking their current ICT status within the school. Schools award themselves a level 5 – 1, 5 indicating ‘nothing very much is happening’ within a particular aspect, to 1 which is ‘aspirational’. The levels that are required to achieve the quality mark are clearly shown on the SRD matrix. The SRF was only launched March 2006 and therefore some of the guidance pages are still under development.
The Self Review Framework will eliminate the practice of collecting unwieldy paper based evidence files which were submitted to the Assessor when schools decided to go for formal accreditation. The SRF is completely on-line. Assessors will review one or two areas in depth when they visit the school to carry out the formal assessment. |
